Knapp is currently a Freelance Contract Composer, where he is responsible for the creation of musical compositions, songs, and scores for a wide range of clients and multimedia projects, such as television, radio, and film broadcasts, video games, mobile applications, and more.

Knapp is also currently the In-House Film Composer for Broken Television Entertainment, based in Detroit, Michigan, where he is responsible for composing original music and scoring for a variety of commercial projects, indie shorts, and films.

Knapp was previously a full-time Instructor in the Digital Media Technologies department at Terra State Community College in Fremont, Ohio, where he was responsible for the instruction of digital media courses to undergraduate students, as well as high school students taking CCP courses. Additional responsibilities included collaborating with the music technology department, participating in the Student Recognition Committee, assessing curriculum needs and updating courses to reflect current industry trends. Knapp also served as a Faculty In Residence at the college's residential housing community.
Knapp started as an Adjunct in the Music department, where he instructed music and audio technology courses. Knapp was also a Recording Studio Assistant- helping in running and maintaining the campus studio, running client recording sessions on an Avid C24, mixing sessions on a Slate Raven MTi, cataloging equipment, and other general studio maintenance. Knapp also previously served time as the Bassist in the college's gigging Fusion Ensemble.

​Knapp was previously a Songwriter and Musician at the Shark Tank backed Tennessee songwriting and production company Songlorious, where he was responsible for the creation of personalized pop rock, alternative, and acoustic pop songs for any event/reason. His responsibilities included writing customized lyrics/music, recording parts, mixing, and mastering.

​Knapp was previously a Volunteer Songwriter and Musician at the New York based non-profit Songs Of Love Foundation, where he was responsible for the creation of free, personalized, original songs to uplift children and teens who were facing tough medical, physical or emotional challenges. His responsibilities included writing customized lyrics/music, recording parts, mixing, and mastering. He specialized in the genres of acoustic pop and pop rock.

Knapp was previously an Adjunct Faculty member at River Valley Community College in Claremont, New Hampshire, where he created and instructed the online, asynchronous humanities course HUMA 103 - Music Appreciation, utilizing the Canvas LMS during Spring semesters. In this course, students develop the skill of perceptive musical listening and an understanding of the elements, forms, historical significance, and styles of the different eras of Western classical music.
​In addition to teaching, Knapp severed as a poetry contest judge for the 2021 Making Sense of COVID (A CCSNH Virtual Symposium) event. Knapp also previously tutored students utilizing the Zoom platform in the following RVCC courses:

Education:

Knapp graduated from Archbold High School in 2015, having been involved in multiple vocal and dance ensembles, solo vocal performances, musicals, plays, and other live performances. Mark served as one of the primary audio and video technicians of Archbold High School during his time, as well as held multiple leadership roles in numerous vocal ensembles. During his high school career, Mark studied under the distinguished Kent Vandock, ​Timothy Booth, and Beth Voll in the areas of choral singing, music theory, music history, and stage production.

Knapp obtained a Specialist Certificate in Music Theory from Berklee Online in 2017. Throughout this program, Knapp gained a mastery over advanced chord construction, voice leading, rhythmic and melodic transcription, modal writing, harmonization, and more. Ear training was highly emphasized, allowing Knapp to distinguish chord qualities, scales, and intervals by sound alone. Jazz and pop music were the main genres of focus throughout this certificate program, offering a contemporary lens on the subject. Knapp's professors included Paul Schmeling and Bruno Råberg.

Knapp completed his Bachelor of Science in Audio Production at The Art Institute of Michigan in the spring of 2018 with honors. During his studies at The Art Institute, Mark studied under renowned audio engineers (recording, mixing, and mastering), composers, theorists, arrangers, conductors, and sound designers such as Timothy Martuch, Neal Warner, Kyle Kramer, Dave Leve, and Tom Jones. Knapp's training has equipped him for many musical and audio related tasks, such as operating a 48-channel SSL Duality SE recording/mixing console, working with Aviom mixing units, programing and building integrated circuits, using outboard gear by brands such as Neve and Manley, employing professional recording styles and mixing techniques, creating MIDI mockups (synthestration), and much more.

Knapp completed his Master of Arts in Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media with an emphasis on Music Scoring & Composition from The Academy of Art University in the spring of 2020 with honors. Knapp studied more in-depth audio processing and manipulation techniques, while also focusing on musical composition. Knapp's musical concentration was in the areas of Common Practice Period voice leading, counterpoint and polyphonic writing, orchestration, and film composition, while his technology studies focused on sound design and implementation using Unity and FMOD Studio, advanced Pro Tools and Logic Pro X navigation and workflows, and mixing and mastering techniques utilizing industry standard plug-ins. Knapp's professors included Brad Hughes, Gunnard Doboze, Craig Kupka, Carla Lucero, Jason Martineau, Barnaby Palmer, Dirk Epperson, and Anne Chamberlain.

Knapp obtained his Wwise-101: Wwise Fundamentals certificate, offered by Audiokinetic​, in March of 2022. Developed in collaboration with CRAS (the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences), the Wwise-101 certificate covers all the essentials one needs to understand in regards to audio implementation and interactive audio for videos games and mobile applications.
